It's normal to wonder what level of access your sponsor might have to your data, especially as you're connecting sensitive tools to CarbonTrail.
Here's what we share with your sponsor, depending on how you enter your data.
If you supply an existing emissions inventory:
You might have already measured your carbon footprint this year, in which case it doesn't make sense to go through the CarbonTrail process again. However, it is still important that you share your data with your sponsor if you are able, so they can build a better picture of your supply chain.
If you upload your existing inventory, we'll share:
The inventory document (as a PDF)
Your Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions
Whether this document has been verified
If you measure your footprint through the CarbonTrail process:
If you've not got an existing inventory, you'll need to measure through the AI-driven CarbonTrail process.
We'll share the following information with your sponsor in that case:
Your total emissions estimate
Scope 1-3 emissions estimate, broken down by GHG and ISO categories
The quality of the measurement, for example, if you entered information about your electricity and fuel usage as well as your spending
A figure called your emissions intensity, which is derived from your emissions divided by your revenue
At no point do we ever share your full revenue figure, any information about your spend, any information about your supply chain (unless it is specifically requested), or access to your accounting tools.
Your data is held securely, and in line with the industry best practices. For more information on our security approach, head to our website.
