While using spend data is a great starting point, inputting raw usage data is crucial for an accurate Scope 1 and 2 footprint. Because energy prices fluctuate constantly, knowing exactly how many kilowatt-hours (kWh) you used is much more precise than relying on the dollar amount spent.
Here is how you can easily add your electricity data into CarbonTrail manually.
What You Will Need
Before you begin, please gather your data. For electricity, you will need:
Your last 12 months of electricity bills.
The total kilowatt-hours (kWh) used per month for each supplier across your premises.
Step-by-Step Guide
Once you have your totals calculated per month and per supplier, follow these steps to add them to the platform:
Navigate to the Measurement Roadmap.
Click the Add Data button next to Electricity.
Locate your electricity supplier(s) from the list on the left side of the screen.
Note: If a supplier is missing, you can also add suppliers manually.
Enter your actual monthly kilowatt-hours (kWh) totals for that supplier across the full year into the form provided.
Tip: Your changes will save automatically as you type! Look for the small spinner icon to confirm your data has been saved.
If you have multiple electricity suppliers, simply select the next supplier on the left and repeat the process.
