How do I interpret the benchmark figure?

Written by Tom Hallam

We request your company's revenue to provide you with a quick, initial estimate of your carbon footprint. This approach uses industry-specific emission factors to calculate an estimate of greenhouse gas emissions based on revenue.

How It Works

  1. We take your annual revenue figure

  2. Apply industry-specific emission factor

  3. Generate a broad baseline carbon estimate specific to your industry

This method allows us to provide immediate value and insights before you've connected more detailed data sources.

Industry Benchmarking

Your revenue data also enables us to benchmark your carbon performance against others in your industry. By comparing your emissions intensity (emissions per dollar of revenue) with industry averages, we can show you how your footprint compares to the industry average.

Note, this is a comparison against the average, not one specific business. If you are booked onto our workshops, we may show performance relative to your Cohort during that session.

Privacy and Security Commitment

We do not share your revenue information with any third parties, even your sponsor (if you have one). Your financial data remains confidential within our secure platform. CarbonTrail's data storage is aligned with the ISO27001 data security standard, ensuring your sensitive business information is protected at all times.
